I am a self taught 61
year old artist. Growing up in Southern California,
I was fortunate to having some wonderful art
teachers during my school years. I put my art aside
during my early adult years to pursue married life
and a career. Finally in my early 30's I was able to
discontinue working and picked my art back up. I've
always loved drawing and painting animals. I began
doing pastel portraits of my dogs. I thought, "Hey,
these aren't too bad!" I took these pastel portraits
to my local Veterinarian's office and asked if I
could hang them for advertisement purposes. They
were thrilled to have some art work to hang on their
walls. I began receiving commissions immediately.
Clients asked if I could do people.
Well....I really
wasn't sure but I thought if I could do animals why
couldn't I do people? So to my astonishment, my
first commissioned people portrait turned out quite
nice. This began my career of portraiture paintings.
I work in Pastels and
Oils. My pastels are done on Canson Mi-Teintes
paper.
And my Oil paintings
are done on stretched canvas.
I have been an active
member of the Pine Bluff Art League (Pine Bluff AR)
for over 20 years.
